What TardySweep does
A two-minute tour of how TardySweep turns a late student into a logged tardy, an automatic follow-up and a report.
TardySweep is a simple way for schools to record late arrivals and see who needs a follow-up. It works in any web browser and on phones and tablets.
How most schools use it
Most schools set up tardy stations where late students arrive: the main entrance, the front office, a busy hallway. A station is simply a computer signed in to TardySweep. Many add a regular or receipt printer for passes, and schools with barcodes on student ID cards add a USB barcode scanner so logging a tardy takes a couple of seconds. Staff can also log tardies from a phone or tablet.
How a tardy moves through TardySweep
- A student arrives late at a tardy station, where the Tardy Logger is open.
- The staff member finds the student by scanning their ID card, or by typing part of their name or their student ID.
- They click Log Tardy (or scan the card again). TardySweep records the date, time, location and class period for you, based on your school's bell schedule.
- A pass prints, if your school uses them. Passes are optional. Plenty of schools never print one and still get the full benefit of TardySweep.
- Counts and rules update automatically. The student's running tardy total goes up. If your school set up consequence rules (for example, "3rd tardy this quarter"), TardySweep records the event and shows an alert to the staff member.
- Leaders see the big picture. Principals, deans and attendance staff use Reporting to see trends, pull detention lists and download spreadsheets.
Who does what
Staff log tardies (and print passes, if your school uses them).
School Admins set up the school: the calendar, bell schedule, students, passes, rules and user accounts.
District Admins can do everything a School Admin can, across more than one school.
Tip: New here? If you are setting up TardySweep for your school, start with Your setup checklist, explained, then Set up a tardy station. If someone invited you to log tardies, start with Log a tardy in 3 steps.
